This notice explains what personal information Martinez Antiques collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it to a minimum: we don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we are

Martinez Antiques is run by Joe and Jacquie Martinez at 17 Brandon Terrace, Canonmills, Edinburgh EH3 5DZ. [Legal name and business type, e.g. "Joe and Jacquie Martinez, trading as Martinez Antiques" or "Martinez Antiques Ltd, company number …"]. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "data controller" under UK data protection law.

If you have any questions about your information, email jmartinezantiques@gmail.com, phone 0131 558 8720 or write to us at the address above.

What we collect and why

When you contact us. If you email or phone us, we keep your name, contact details and what you asked about. We use this to answer you and to deal with any purchase or repair. Our legal reason is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, or, once you buy from us, to carry out our agreement with you.

When you buy from us or leave a repair. We keep a record of what you bought or left with us, the price and how you paid. We need this to provide the item or service and to keep the accounts the law requires.

We never see your card details. Card payments are handled by our card payment provider.

Visiting this website

You can browse this website without telling us who you are.

  • Visitor statistics. We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It uses no cookies, doesn't track you across other websites, and doesn't collect information that identifies you.
  • Cookies. This website doesn't use cookies. If that ever changes, we'll update this notice and ask for your permission where the law requires it.
  • Hosting, photos and fonts. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel), the service that stores our photos (Sanity) and our font provider (Adobe Fonts) receive your device's internet address when your browser loads the page. They use it only to deliver the page and keep their services secure.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to:

  • with the providers above, and our email provider (Google), who handle it on our behalf
  • with our accountant, and with HMRC where the law requires
  • with a courier, if you ask us to deliver an item

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we need to answer them, then delete them within [two years]. We keep records of sales and repairs for six years, because tax law requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your information, or to stop or limit how we use it
  • object to us using your information based on our legitimate interests

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. It's free, and we'll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
